Gamla Byskolan's garden

Gamla Byskolan’s garden
The old school yard with the gravel covered football field where the children used to play has over the last few years been developed into a gorgeous garden. Students having been to courses here with us every so often contribute with plants to leave their imprint and say thank you. It is a garden created with love and that continues to transform with each passing year. Every summer it offers our guests a beautiful place for contemplation and presence.

In the forest surrounding the school there are a lot of deer, but we have an agreement with them: in the summertime they leave the garden in peace and enjoy what the forest has to offer. Later on, in the autumn they come and help us ”clean up” the flower beds!

The pond that has been given the name ”The Eye” , due to its’ shape, is dedicated to the children passing over in the tsunami of 2004. In 2008 the pond was blessed through a ceremony by Bhante K. Siri Dhammaratana Maha Thera, the chief incumbent of Stockholm Buddhist Vihara.
